COMMUNITY SAFETY

The Hate Crimes Prevention Act is giving local prosecutors and Police departments the tools to confront crimes of bias and uphold standards of fairness and equality under the law.

New police resources passed by the House of Representatives, would include $1.8 billion in grants to help hire 50,000 new Police officers during the next five years and extend historic advances in crime control and prevention.  Congresswoman Lowey has strongly supported this initiative which has put 280 cops on the beat in New York’s 18th District.
